Ever since having completed my english essay, I’ve become so relaxed. Too relaxed. I actually have a lot more work to get through; poem questions and reading the rest of the Letters to Alice book.

By the way, Letters to Alice is not my kind of book. I guess it’s nice the way the author sees things and makes it seem a lot more beautiful than it really is, but for the most part I just want to know about Jane Austen. I really do not care about the City of Invention, or if people are moving in and out of it. The book is so short, but it just doesn’t pique my interest.

Added to that, because I know I have to read that book, I haven’t started reading any of my other books. I tried reading Alice in Wonderland but the language is so simple - it’s for children anyway - so I’m not so interested. I think I’m going to put having a book collection on hold and just buy the books I want to actually read - namely Catcher in the Rye.

I guess it’s a little silly but I get turned off books when they’re simply too long. Unless the book is captivating, reading it just feels daunting. I’m also warming up to the Penguin classic covers. I used to think they were really…. not.. um nice to look at (geez what a way to say they’re ugly LOL) but they’ve grown on me. And plus, they’re cheaper than those Vintage classics.

I should probably ask for book recommendations; interesting stories that aren’t too long. Not even if they’re too long. As long as they’re interesting. I was in Dymocks the other day when there was a Penguin classic book of Shakespeare’s sonnets. Saving up for that!

I actually used to hate poetry; I used to think that if you had something to say, why not just say it out front? I thought “Why would you compare someone to a summer’s day when you could just say “You’re not perfect but I love you”“. That was a pretty silly mentality; I guess at the time I liked things being blunt and direct.

Nowadays, romanticism is something I really enjoy; the artist’s view of simply nature or seeing the good in mediocre things has made me appreciate a lot more around me - and I end up a lot happier too. It’s nice.

That’s all that’s really on my mind at the moment. I’m gonna go try and read. Kidding, I’m going to go watch Modern Family again.
